Construction Institute (CI) of the American Society of Civil Engineers Sacramento Section

Greg Zeiss, P.E. Co-Chair, Sacramento Section Construction Institute

Construction Institute (CI)
of the American Society of Civil Engineers
Sacramento Section

Given the fragmented nature of the construction industry, CI was founded by ASCE National on the hypothesis that a need for cross cutting networking and technical exchange exists. CI was established to provide a collaborative forum for every participant in the construction process and is organized into seven Directorates - Construction, Education & Research, Engineering, Equipment, Materials, Owners, and Services - providing an immediate focus area for every interest within the industry. Each Directorate is governed by an Executive Committee that establishes the Directorate's mission, goals, and objectives based upon industry needs and the overall direction of the Institute. Cross cutting technical committees provide input and develop technical products, including publications, conferences, sessions, and policy decisions that satisfy the needs of the industry.

CI Sacramento Section Mission Statement:

1. To promote networking of Construction Professionals in Sacramento Section.

2. To share opportunities, challenges, policies, and funding of construction projects.

3. To create a pool of shared technical expertise, construction management expertise, and lessons learned that is a phone call away.

4. To provide University Scholarships for students pursuing technical and management degrees for employment in the construction industry.

5. To provide an avenue for Sacramento Section CI to have a global impact on the industry by being active not only locally, but also the ASCE CI National level through involvement with the CI Directorates and Committees.
