The inaugural meeting of SCEWRI, held on June 18, 2008, turned out excellent participation and was a great success. Udai Singh, the national president elect of EWRI, and Martin Farber, the Chair of ASCE Sacramento Chapter, were in attendance to help kick off the local chapter. The goals and objectives of SCEWRI were shared with the attendees, including the participation of planners, scientists, engineers, lawyers, and administrators.

The next general meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, August 19, 2008 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at 4th Street Grille (400 L Street, Sacramento). Jim Branham, Executive Director of the Sierra Nevada Conservancy will provide a brief overview of the current initiatives, projects, grant funding processes, and objectives of the Conservancy for 2008 and beyond.

The initial meeting for the Committee on Climate Forcings and Water Resource Implications will be held at the August 19th meeting. Any persons interested in participating on this Committee or, learning more about its objectives, agenda, and/or planned activities for 2008/2009 are welcome to join us at 5:30 pm (one-half hour before the regular membership meeting commences).
